The history of UTair Aviation goes back to February 7, 1967, when the Tyumen Department of Civil Aviation was established following an order of the Civil Aviation Minister of the USSR. Later it was restructured into the state airline Tyumenaviatrans (Order No. 1 of the USSR Civil Aviation Minister on January 4, 1991). In accordance with Presidential Decree No. 721 on July 1, 1992, the airline Tyumenaviatrans was reorganized into an open joint stock company. A general shareholders’ meeting decided on October 1, 2002 to rename the airline into UTair Aviation JSC.
The founder of the company is the State Committee for Managing Property of the Russian Federation. State registration of the company was carried out by the head of the administration of the Central District of the city of Tyumen on October 28, 1992.
